I am thankful for many things this time of the year and all year long. One of the things I'm thankful for is my 3rd graders. They are so special, a lot of magic still happens for them. I get to be the lucky person that feeds into that wonder and magic in their lives. They still believe in a lot of things, and I am thankful for that.
They keep me on my toes, I'm always trying to find new ways to teach them. They are also learning how to be a good friend and that is challenging at this age. I love it when they come up with brilliant ideas I just couldn't wrap my head around. They make me smile and laugh at the sweet and silly things they do and say. I am thankful that I have kids who want to learn and are excited when they see growth from their hard work. It makes me so proud of them! They are amazing little people that I have the privilege to teach and spend time with everyday. Don't get me wrong, things are not always smiles and fun and laughter. We have our moments when they are having a bad day and I do everything I can, but am thankful when 2:25 rolls around.
In the end, I am grateful that I have a wonderful class of little people who I am proud to call mine.

Social Media & Donor's Choose
I have had an amazing first week with my kids! They are all so bright and eager to learn and it makes me excited to be their teacher. I have big plans for them this year. Every year brings on new ideas and challenges. One of the new things I hoping to bring to them is some more flexible seating options. I have made a Donor's Choose project for it that I want to get funded. Here is the link in case your interested in learning more about our project. Comfortable Seating=Engaged Learners

I'm Getting Excited!
It's eve of the beginning of school (for us teachers) and I always get very excited thinking about a new school year. I have spent my summer spending time with my family and friends. I am rested up and waiting patiently for the new school year to arrive. I'm home now, seeing a bunch of smoke out my windows. There is a fire close by and that is on my mind. I have many things planned for the new school year and can't wait to meet up with my teacher friends tomorrow to get energized. Here's to a wonderful year!!

HyperDoc Happiness!
Today my 3rd graders did their first mini HyperDoc! I am so happy about this! I have been waiting for MONTHS to try a HyperDoc with a group of kids. School started, and I found out the 16 Chromebooks I thought I was going to have moved to another grade level. So today, a month into school I took my kids to the computer lab and we experienced our first HyperDoc. The kids loved it, and I loved it. I can't wait to do more and show them the amazing lessons I have for them. We started out simple. They logged on using a shortened URL and clicked on a Google Form. In that form they filled out their name, watched 2 videos and answered a question. Then they did a dot activity. Success!

Breath Boxes
We started fluency folders for intervention time this week and the kids are loving every minute of it. We have had +Knela Newton in for a whole week to teach us the routines and procedures for fluency. Mrs. Newton gave them breath boxes as a fun way to practice sight words. Please check out the video HERE. Knela is my Instructional Coach and she is an amazing teacher! My kids are very disappointed that she is not going to be there for fluency again. But little do they know, she will be back this week for writing. I love the fact they enjoy learning new things from all different teachers. Thank you +Knela Newton for being my coach and a second teacher to my kids.

Week 3 of 3rd Grade
Week three is here and I get more excited every day. I love my new class, grade level and school. These kids are very fun and they keep me on my toes. There are so many things I want to share with them and have them create.
This is a place where I will be talking about what we have done in class and sharing what we are working on. I will also be letting you know about homework and what is happening at school.
Happenings at school:
Wednesday is our Family Lunch day, come have lunch with your kid. Our lunch time starts at 11:40.
Picture day is Thursday!
Friday is The Ned Show assembly at 1:30, should be fun! I hear there will be yo-yo's for sale.
Homework:
Monday, September 12th we will be starting homework. I will be sending home a few math problems. Make sure you check to see which ones I have assigned. There is also a cursive practice page.
We will be working on Instagram "Posts" in class this week. I will share pictures when they are done.
